About RepairWise

Bringing sanity and math to broken household items.

Our Philosophy

When a refrigerator, car, or smartphone breaks down, it is immediately stressful. Repair shops push expensive fixes, salespeople pressure you to replace, and DIY videos can make it look easier (or more dangerous) than it really is.

RepairWise was designed to be a calm friend with a calculator. We believe in clear decision logic: no "AI magic," no technician yelling from inside a toaster, just clean cost ratios, item lifespan math, warranty checks, and plain-English reasons.

How RepairWise Evaluates Your Items

We look at three main areas to compile our recommendation:

  • 1
    The Repair-to-Replacement Ratio:

If fixing an item costs more than 50% of buying a new one, the balance usually tilts toward replacement. If it is under 25%, it's almost always worth fixing.

  • 2
    The Age and Expected Lifespan:

An appliance near the end of its typical operating lifespan (like a 12-year-old washing machine) is more likely to break again soon, making a replacement smarter even if the current repair is moderate.

  • 3
    Warranty and Safety Checks:

We check if the manufacturer's warranty applies first, and we flag major safety issues (like gas leaks or electrical hazards) that require professional intervention rather than DIY.
